Mi Casa Es Tu Casa: Santa Cruz AAWAA

Celebrating community diversity, the Pajaro Valley Arts Council's show "Mi Casa es Tu Casa 2009" showcases the rich art and tradition of altar-making. The annual theme is inspired by Día de Los Muertos and the gallery has invited participation by local community groups.

Santa Cruz AAWAA members Lucien Kubo, Dawn Nakanishi, Maggie Yee, and Reiko Michisaki have created an altar joining Chinese and Japanese cultural traditions. Please join us on November 1 for Day of the Dead Events planned in the Watsonville Plaza, including music, dance, art, outdoor altars, champurrado and pan de muerto, and which will culminate in a procession from the Plaza to the Gallery to celebrate the opening reception. The Plaza events begin at 2pm; the procession begins at 4:30pm and the opening reception is 5 - 7 pm. See http://www.pvarts.org/micasaestucasa09 for more information.
